What to expect at your appointment
❋ Does it hurt?
This is one of the most common questions, particularly regarding microsuction. In most cases, microsuction is not painful. You may experience some noise during the procedure, such as whistling, clicking, or squeaking sounds. These noises can occasionally be loud, but the clinician is fully aware of this and will control the procedure carefully to keep you as comfortable as possible throughout.
❋ During Your Appointment
Everything will be explained clearly and simply, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect. The ear canal will be examined before any treatment begins.
The methods used for wax removal are microsuction or irrigation (water). Microsuction is usually the preferred method; however, in some cases it may not be effective or suitable. Where appropriate and provided there are no contraindications, irrigation may be recommended as an alternative. Your ears can be viewed via camera otoscope for reassurance.
❋ Pre-Treatment
Upon arrival, you will be asked to complete a brief medical questionnaire. This allows us to check for any relevant medical history or conditions that may affect treatment and ensures the safest approach is taken.
❋ Appointment Length
Most appointments last up to 20 minutes, depending on the amount and type of wax present.
❋ Post-treatment
Aftercare is minimal and will be tailored to your individual needs. Advice will be given if required to help maintain ear health and prevent future problems.
❋ A Supportive Space
Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.
